Choosing the Right Shampoo

Long hair needs to be very well cared for. How you wash your hair and what you use on it matters quite a bit.

There’s no one right answer for which shampoo you ought to use, however. I’ve always had the best results from switching my shampoos regularly. This keeps the buildup to a minimum.

Overall, I use Pantene the most. It just really seems to work well with my hair. I’ve never liked the 2 in 1 varieties with any brand – they just don’t seem to condition all that well, and you really need a good conditioner when you have long hair.

I’ve also heard great things about Mane ‘n Tail. I’ll have to give it a try one of these days soon.

If you don’t like changing brands a lot, just get a clarifying shampoo. These do a good job of removing the buildup if you just use it every once in a while.

I have to admit, I have never tried a salon brand of shampoo or conditioner. I understand they are supposed to do a great job, but since I’ve always been happy with what I can get at the store, I haven’t yet felt the need to try something more expensive. Probably will one day, just to see what the big deal is.

I have very long hair that reaches my waist, but I have a problem finding a good shampoo. I have dandruff, so I use Head and Shoulders which keeps that in check, but it seems to make my hair drier than what I would prefer. I only wash my hair every other day and condition it to make up for the dryness that the shampoo causes. I have been using a shampoo with tea tree oil in it, and it does not seem to irritate my scalp if I only use it occasionally. I guess my question is if there is a good dandruff shampoo for long hair?

I feel your pain Missy! But it seems like I’ve found a solution – Philip Kindsly Itchy Scalp Shampoo. I have a very long highlighted hair that I try too keep in good condition. However, I’ve always had a problem of itchy scalp and eczema, so this is my saving grace. It does work and it doesn’t dry out hair like most of the other shampoos that I’ve tried. Hope this helps.
