Dry Air and Dry Hair
Any kind of hair can suffer from static. You know how your hair can just cling to everything, getting in the way and just doesn’t cooperate when it gets staticy. The trick is knowing what to do about it.
You could wet down your hair, but wet hair is more easily damaged than dry hair, so that’s not too good an idea.
A better idea is to add some moisture to the air. Start up a humidifier well before you need to start styling your hair. Hair gets staticy when there is too little moisture in the air.
Dryer sheets can also be used. Rub one lightly over your hairbrush to get static out of it or even over your hair just before brushing. Do that very lightly, of course. I haven’t tried this one personally, but I’ve heard of it and thought it sounded interesting.
Oiling your hair can also help. It gives your hair the moisture it lacks when the air is dry, and so limits the static.
A good static free hairbrush can help to a degree, but don’t count on it to solve your problems. On really dry days there’s only so much a hairbrush can do to control static.
