A New Favorite Hairstyle
One of the fun things about long hair is how many different ways you can do your hair. I recently found a new favorite way to put my hair up that takes a little extra time, but I think feels very nice. It’s not that bad, maybe 15 minutes, and how many people do you know that spend at least that long on their hair every day? It’s called the Victorian, by the way.
Start by putting your hair in a ponytail, with just enough room to flip it over into a topsy tail. If you aren’t familiar with that tactic, take the hair just above the elastic holding the ponytail find the middle, and open it up. Flip the ponytail up and through, so that it comes back out through the bottom.
With your hair in this style, separate the ponytail into three sections. Take each individual section and braid it, so that you have three braids. I find it easiest to tie each one off while doing the others, then using a single elastic to hold all three braids.
Take the ends of the braids up to where you tucked in the original ponytail. With a little effort, you can stretch out the elastic holding the original ponytail, and use it to hold the ends of the braids, keeping your hair in place.
This is a very old fashioned look, and really not that hard to do. My husband was quite impressed by it. I used a metal ponytail holder with a stick to give it an extra little accent. I don’t have a good picture to post so far.
