I'm an Aussie and haven't even heard of those products - they sound awful! Do they contain lots of sodium lauryl sulfate, I wonder?

I've been using no shampoo at all for 6 months now, and my hair is actually better and more nourished than when I was using shop products - no matter how much they cost. Just type "No Poo" into Google and see how many people are choosing not to strip off all the hair's natural oils, there are lots of us out there.

Thanks for this great site, lots of good ideas and support.

I've had long hair all my life. I used to wonder why anyone would ever spend more so much money on salon shampoos and conditions. But then I tried them and let me tell you, what a difference! If I can afford it, I try to buy BioLage hydration. If I don't have quite that much money, I buy John Frieda's FrizzEase shampoo and condition. This is still more than average brands, but the difference is worth it. My mom (around 47) has very long hair also. Her hair is quite thin and she prefers Bath and Body Works hair products.

I avoid the Aussie products. I used to love them, but I switched to Nexus and will never go back. I picked up Aussies 3min miracle the other day just to see if it was still something I would use, and after using the Nexus for the last year or so I was INCREDIBLY disappointed by Aussie. The 3min miracle compared to Nexus Humectress is like water.

Never again the cheap stuff. There are some things worth the extra couple bucks. If you love being a long hair, then spending a little bit more to get the results you want is worth it.

I am afraid of all Aussie products after my experience with one of their conditioners. I purchased the Aussie Sun-Touched Shine Conditioner because I had run out of my normal conditioner and it promised to make my hair "shiny" and "silky smooth." Since I had never used this product before, I read the information on the bottle carefully, and followed the instructions on how to use it.
I used the product once and now my red hair looks bleached, dull, and feels course instead of its usual smoothness. Not only did the product not fulfill its promise, but it took away the natural beauty of my hair!
I waited 24-hours and then washed my hair again, this time using only my normal shampoo with conditioner. There was no change in my hair--it is still just as ugly and ruined as it was right after I used the Aussie conditioner. I called the company and they essentially said "Sorry, but you're just going to have to wait for it to grow out." No explanation. No real help. I am extremely disappointed and would caution anyone who considers buying an Aussie product.

A bit late, but I still wanted to comment.

I know your pain...

Last summer I tried the new Herbal Essences stuff, and it was the blue kind (something with blue orchid, I don't remember, it was the kind for dry/damaged hair), and it ended up stripping away at the cuticle of my hair and damaging it. My 2 hair cuts prior to that were separated by a year and 8months and the stylist only cut off 2 inches. My most recent one, which was 8 months from my last cut, (a few months after the new herbal essences crap) the stylist had to chop off 5 inches. Needless to say, I was slightly pissed because I KNEW that the old Herbal Essences worked amazingly in my hair. I still use and have brand loyalty, as long as it's that kind. I've been using it for several years without a major problem. My hair is healthy, thick, shiny, almost split-end free, and I don't need to brush it because it doesn't get snarly.

So, in other words, I feel your pain.
