Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner

Filed under: Product Reviews — Stephanie

Pantene is a brand I’ve used for years. My usual routine with shampoos is to rotate brands regularly, as my hair seems to prefer this. However, I’ve found that my hair likes Pantene better than average, and I can go through a couple bottles without switching brands without feeling a buildup.

Right now I use Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal, and I’m still not showing any signs of buildup well into my second bottle.

Some people look at the ingredient list and don’t like what they see. Many people with long hair prefer to avoid the aluminum sulfate (a fairly harsh cleanser) Pantene often uses for cleaning as well as the silicone products they use in their conditioners. I haven’t been investigating these things for long, but certainly haven’t had a problem.

Some people find that Pantene conditioners weigh their hair down. This is not a problem I’ve had, but it’s what I’m hearing from others.

Since my hair has not been professionally trimmed in about two years, it’s hard to say if Pantene causes a lot of breakage. I do have some split ends, and I do trim them every here and there, so I’ll have to wait until I try a different brand to check for a difference.

Of course, with any shampoo or conditioner your results will vary from mine. These things are very personal and depend on a lot of factors.

My hair loves Pantene I’ve been using it for a few months now though (about 3-4 bottles). And I’m thinking of changing to an all natural shampoo and conditioner for a change of pace soon.

It’s only recently that I stumbled across the fact that long hair needs different care. I stopped washing so often (going from every day to once or twice a week) and discovered the wonders of a boar bristle brush (though post brushing with it my hair is soft shiny and resistance to any change like it suddenly became a heavy sheet of steel is that normal?)

Umm this is probably in the wrong section but I have a question. Is it okay to play with your hair extensively? I generally start my day with my hair down and I play with it, bruhsing it with my fingers and braiding and rebraiding unbriading rebriading (I have a job wiht long periods of nonbusiness).

A lot of strands tend to wrap around my fingers and come out when I do this and it worries me because the last time my hair was this long I was under a lot of stress and it fell out in wads so much so that I was forced to cut it all off.

any advice?
